DERMAL FILLERS

Fillers are injections used to fill out creases and wrinkles in the skin. It is injected to smooth out lines and replenish firmness and volume lost. As our skin ages, it tends to lose the collagen and fat, inevitably causing our skin to sag. Fillers provide a refreshed plumped appearance, giving our face a younger look.

There are different filler materials available, such as collagen, calcium hydroxylapetite and poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA). Currently, the the most widely used filler is made from Hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring molecule found in the skin.

Hyaluronic acid is extremely hydrophilic which attracts and binds to water, giving a fuller effect to the treated area by supporting our skin's structure, as well as hydrating the skin for a natural glow. There is a decrease in our skin ageing, and an increase in our self-esteem and confidence.

Fillers are available in different thickness, and used depending on its purpose and treatment. Generally, the thicker the product, the deeper it will be injected into the dermal layer of the skin. Results can be seen immediately after treatment, with effects lasting anywhere between 6-12 months depending on the filler and area of treatment and skin hygiene maintenance.
